Interesting Facts

The traditional Gimlet has equal parts, gin and lime juice. Over the years, palates have demanded a more balanced flavor.

History of the Drink

The drink was created by British Royal Navy surgeon Sir Thomas Gimlette in the 19th century. It was originally made with gin and lime juice, and was used as a way to prevent scurvy among sailors. The recipe eventually made its way to shore, where it became a popular cocktail, where bartenders tweaked the recipe making it much more palatable.
