YOUR GUIDE TO DUBLIN
The Diageo Bar Academy Ireland team have put together their guide to exploring the Irish capital.
Where is the best place to get your Dublin adventure started?
As it is one of the most popular days to visit Dublin, the atmosphere is electric with lots going on in all the pubs and restaurants. Some places even change the black stuff, green for the day so you could try an unusual looking pint of Guinness (don’t worry it still tastes the same!) A great way to celebrate the day is to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the city. The famous St Patrick’s Day parade starts at noon and features giant, colourful puppets, street performers and marching bands and lots of people line the streets as it makes its way through the city.
If you are heading out for the night is there anywhere you would recommend for cocktails?
Start your journey with a visit to the GUINNESS STOREHOUSE®. Located in the heart of the St. James' Gate Brewery, the Storehouse is Ireland's most popular tourist attraction. Where better to have a pint of GUINNESS® than the home of the black stuff in the heart of Dublin?
In the Guinness Storehouse your journey will begin at the bottom of the world's largest pint glass and continue up through seven floors filled with interactive experiences that showcase Guinness’ long brewing heritage. Once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with the perfect pint in the world-famous rooftop Gravity Bar which has one of the best views of Dublin city.
Where is the best place to enjoy the buzz of the city?
Grafton Street always has a buzz about it, whether that’s the many buskers or the busy shoppers – it’s a great place to take a stroll and soak up the atmosphere. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants to stop off at for some lunch and drinks. Look out for a Guinness sign to guide you.
What is the best way to enjoy Dublin on St Patrick’s Day?
Harcourt Street is one of the most popular places to go out in Dublin to enjoy some cocktails and hit the dancefloor!
So now you know where to go to in Dublin and where you can get a good pint of Guinness – but do you know how to pour the perfect pint?
Take a look at our video on how to prefect your pouring skills.
