The Bamboo Bar
Since opening in the early 1950s, The Bamboo Bar has made a name for itself as one of the most iconic bars in Bangkok. Set within the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel, The Bamboo Bar embodies the stylish and seductive spirit that the hotel has become known for. If you are after live jazz music and an extensive cocktail list created by Mandarin Oriental’s award winning mixologist team, The Bamboo Bar is the ideal place to spend an evening.
The bar closed for an extensive renovation in 2014 and, since its reopening, has gone from strength to strength as one of the most happening bars in Bangkok. The new, elegant décor has brought The Bamboo Bar into the future whilst retaining the unique buzz created by its many famous patrons of the past, such as Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong.
Try one of the new “Flavour Cocktails”, which combine innovative ingredients with tried and tested traditions – you won’t be disappointed.
50ml TANQUERAYTM Gin
15ml Lime cordial
10ml Sauvignon blanc syrup
5ml Lime juice
2 Dashes bitters
Method: Shake all the ingredients together, then pour into chilled martini glass and serve with an Infinity Citron Macaron from The Mandarin Oriental Shop

The owners of Vesper Cocktail Bar and Restaurant, husband and wife duo, Choti Leenutaphong and Debby Tang, have collaborated with Chef Luca Appino to open Il Fumo. They serve contemporary Italian cuisine cooked on a wood charcoal grill and vintage craft cocktails devised by a team of award winning bartenders.
The Bar at Il Fumo features an exclusive drinking den reminiscent of the legendary bars in Europe such as Hemingway Bar in Paris and Dry Martini, Barcelona. Bar Manager Pailin Sajjanit, who was a finalist in Diageo World Class Thailand 2015, worked with the same team who delivered the Vesper cocktail menu to create a unique drinking experience. While Vesper serves cutting-edge cocktails, the focus at Il Fumo is to revive forgotten cocktail gems, albeit with Il Fumo’s twist.
50ml TANQUERAYTM Gin
15ml Ginger liqueur
15ml Passion fruit tea
15ml Lemon juice
2 Drops sesame oil
Method: Shake all the ingredients together, then pour into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a shiso leave
