The quality of ice is hugely important when making premium cocktails and spirits
Here are three destinations in Istanbul I always place on my list of recommendations:
With its first outlet opened in 2003 at Maçka G-Mall, the group and subsequent Num Num locations (10 in total between Ankara and Istanbul!) grew at a steady pace whilst managing to remain a firm favourite among loyal patrons with its fast, friendly service and generous food portions.
In Istanbul, the Levent Kanyon outlet with its spacious interiors make it an ideal spot for group outings. Mehmet Gürs, chef owner of Num Num and a well-respected name in the Istanbul restaurant and bar scene, ensures a quality food and drink selection that even the most jaded diners find themselves returning to time and again. When visiting, don’t miss the Flamingo cocktail.
50ml Smirnoff Vanilla flavoured vodka
20ml Passion fruit puree
20ml Lime juice
1 Vanilla pod
Fill ¾ of a rocks glass with crushed ice. Add lime juice, Smirnoff Vanilla flavoured vodka and passion fruit puree. Stir and fill the glass with more crushed ice. Garnish with a sliced vanilla pod. Vanilla seeds will be relased into the drink after the first couple of sips.

60ml Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold
20ml Passion fruit puree
20ml Orange liqueur
20ml Sweet and sour mix (10ml sugar syrup + 10ml lime juice)
A dash of Louisiana Hot Sauce
A sprig of Rosemary
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

With its cosy and laid back atmosphere, Corridor is a local club with a dedicated crowd, all week long. Long Island Iced Tea
15ml Smirnoff vodka
15ml Gordon’s gin
15ml Captain Morgan
15ml Don Julio Blanco tequila
15ml Triple sec
30ml Sour mix
1 Lemon wedge
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled highball glass filled with ice. Top up with Coca-Cola and garnish with a lemon wedge.
