Born and raised in South Africa, Dirk's dream was always to work in the hospitality sector. In 1998, he moved to Switzerland to fulfil his dream of becoming a chef and graduated from a renowned Hotel Management School. In 2004, after living in France for some time, he fell in love with the bar business. After going through different positions in hospitality and the bar sector worldwide, he was awarded a local “Bartender of the Year” award in 2008, which launched his career in the Bar industry. In 2014, he then accepted the venture to manage the renowned 5* Widder Hotel’s Bar. In October 2018, he finally opened his very own bar "Bar am Wasser" with his business partner, a classic, high end cocktail bar, which recalls all the great bars he has visited or worked for in the past.
