Ponche con Piquete

A Mexican festive favourite combining the Christmas flavours of cinnamon with apple, guava, prunes, Mexican hawthorne and Don Julio reposado tequila.

Ingredients

  • 300ml

    Don Julio Reposado Tequila

  • 1L

    Water

  • 4

    Guavas

  • 3

    Sugar cane sticks

  • 1

    Red apple

  • 6

    Prunes

  • 1

    Cinnamon stick

  • 1

    Brown sugar (or agave syrup)

Method

  • METHOD
    1. Cut guavas and apples into wedges and hawthorns.
    2. Boil all fruits in water, adding the hibiscus juice and cinnamons stick.
    3. Add the brown sugar (or agave syrup)
    4. Bring to a boil then simmer for 20 minutes.
    5. Add Don Julio reposado tequila and allow to cool before serving.

    Alcohol content: 9.5g per serve
