Interesting Facts

The Sex On The Beach is a member of the ‘Cape Cod’ family of cocktails, which includes drinks that are made with vodka and cranberry juice.

History of the Drink

The Sex on the Beach's origins can be traced back to the 1980s when it was invented by a bartender named Ted Pizio in Florida. The drink was originally created as a variation of the Cape Codder, which typically consists of vodka and cranberry juice. However, Pizio wanted to create a drink that captured the essence of Florida's beautiful beaches, so he added a tropical twist to the recipe.

Initially, the Sex on the Beach was made by adding peach schnapps and orange juice to the Cape Codder recipe, giving it a fruity and refreshing taste. The drink quickly gained popularity in Florida and soon spread throughout the country. One of the reasons for its success was its unique name, which added a touch of fun and playfulness to the cocktail.
