Vesper Cocktail

Appearing in chapter seven of Casino Royale, this is the first Martini James Bond ordered.

Ingredients

30ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin

10ml Ketel One

5ml Lillet Blanc

1 Lemon Peel (Garnish)

Equipment

1 Martini Glass

1 Ice Scoop

1 Jigger

1 Mixing Glass

1 Julep Strainer

1 Bar Spoon

1 Tongs

method

  1. Add all the ingredients to an Ice-filled Mixing Glass.

  2. Stir to mix, chill and dilute.

  3. Fine strain into a chilled Martini Glass.

  4. Garnish with a Lemon Peel.

Alcohol content:

14.2g per serve

Interesting Facts

The Vesper is a strong cocktail, made with gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc. It's often referred to as a ‘Bond Martini’.

History of the Drink

The Vesper was invented by Ian Fleming in the first James Bond novel, Casino Royale. It's a variation of the Martini and was named after Vesper Lynd, the novel's female lead.
