1.75oz Bulleit Rye

1oz Dry Vermouth

1oz Pineapple Juice

1 Lime Twist on glass rim

Equipment

1 Highball Glass

1 Bar Spoon

1  Martini Glass

1 Shaker

1  Hawthorne Strainer

1 Fine Strainer

1  Tongs

1 Cocktail Stick

method

  1. Add all the liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  2. Shake and fine strain into a chilled Martini glass.

  3. Garnish with the Lime twist.

Interesting Facts

The Algonquin is made with rye whiskey, dry vermouth, and pineapple juice. It is a variation on the classic cocktail, the Manhattan.

History of the Drink

Many 1930's classics, including this one, are attributed to the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. The hotel was a gathering place for literary figures and the drink became associated with them.
