50ml Ciroc Vodka
15ml Lime
15ml Simple Syrup
2 Basil Leaves (Garnish)
Equipment
1 Rocks Glass
1 Ice Scoop
1 Jigger
1 Cocktail Shaker
1 Hawthorne Strainer
1 Tongs
method
Shake all the liquid ingredients with ice
Strain into an ice-filled Rocks Glass
Garnish with Basil Leaves

History of the Drink
The drink was created by British Royal Navy surgeon Sir Thomas Gimlette in the 19th century. It was originally made with gin and lime juice, and was used as a way to prevent scurvy among sailors. The recipe eventually made its way to shore, where it became a popular cocktail, where barteners tweaked the recipe making it much more palatable
