Southern Spritz
Honey, lemon, orange and vermouth flavours, lifted perfectly with George Dickel No.1 White Corn Whisky

Ingredients
25ml George Dickel No.1 White Corn Whisky
5ml Bitter Italian Aperitif
10ml Lemon Juice
10ml Honey Syrup (equal parts honey & hot water)
2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
50ml Dry Sparkling Wine
1 Orange Twist (Garnish)
Equipment
1 Martini Glass
1 Ice Scoop
1 Jigger
1 Bar Spoon
1 Tongs
1 Cocktail Shaker
1 Hawthorne Strainer
1 Fine Strainer
method
Shake all the liquid ingredients (except sparkling wine) with ice.
Fine strain into a chilled Martini Glass.
Add Sparkling Wine.
Garnish with an Orange Twist.

Interesting Facts
Whilst an exact recipe for the Spritz is difficult to ascertain, bartenders often gave recipes using words like ‘Splash of’ as opposed to quantities. This was considered the norm for the original Spritz to be equal parts wine and carbonated water.
History of the Drink
The Spritz is a beverage that has its roots in Venice and is named after the German verb ‘Spritzen’, which means to spray or splash. According to the history, Austrian soldiers who were stationed in Venice created the drink by adding soda water to the local wines. By using various liqueurs, you can make practically endless varieties of the Spritz.
