Bar tools are as important as charm in the bar game, readily arming us to make great drinks consistently; taking care of them ensures they perform and help us produce our desired drinks. With this in mind, we caught up with bar tool experts, Uber Tools to find out their top ten tips to keep your bar tools in tip top condition.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

Let’s face it, we live in a price conscious world and are often tempted to buy the cheapest or generic products when setting up a bar. This is opposed to seeing it as an opportunity to invest a little more in high-quality tools that have more durability, better accuracy and can turn out being more affordable in the long term.

When it comes to your own barware kit, as a working bartender, you are more inclined to take care of your things. At work the same care needs to be taken when quality bar tools are being used, to maximise their lifespan and keep them in good condition. Looking after your tools should be as routine for a professional bartender as prepping for service or cleaning down at the end of the night.

PRIDE IN YOUR TOOLS, PRIDE IN YOUR TRADE

And tool longevity isn’t the only reason for taking care of your tools. It also helps build a sense of pride in craft of bartending.

If you have pride in your tools, that pride will also extend into the care you take in cocktail making. Or to put it another way – if you consider yourself to be a skilled bartender, then you probably want the tools you use to match that skill.Caring about the outcome of your cocktail equates to caring about the tools you use to make it.

Similarly, if you would like your bar to look good, then you probably don’t want scratched, beaten-up and mismatched tools lining the shelves and bar tops. Tools with an anodised, metal-plated exterior require specific care to ensure they don’t get unnecessarily scratched.

By following these tips, you will find that your bar tools have more life in them. Invest time into cleaning and maintaining them and you will have shiny, quality bar tools that won’t let you down for many years to come.
