The Cuba Libre (also known as Rum & Coke) is a staple highball cocktail combining rum, cola, often lime juice, and is served on ice. Despite its simplicity, the drink has a notable history, with its name “Cuba Libre” (Free Cuba) and the drink itself associated with the Cuban Independence Movement in the late 1890s. Its simple and readily-available ingredients have helped this cocktail to retain its popularity today, with bartenders around the globe putting their own stamp on the drink.

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Top with cola
