Australian Hot Toddy

A smoky twist on a warm winter classic, Talisker 10 Scotch Whisky is perfectly complemented with Honey and Lemon flavours.

Ingredients

30ml Talisker 10-Year-Old Scotch Whisky

75ml Hot Water

40ml Honey

20ml Lemon Juice

3 Bay Leaves (Garnish)

1 Cinnamon Stick (Garnish)

1 Star Anise (Garnish)

Equipment

1  Mug

1 Ice Scoop

1 Jigger

1 Bar Spoon

1  Tongs

1 Stove and Pan

method

  1. Heat Honey, Lemon Juice, Water and Spices in a pot.

  2. Bring to a boil and let simmer for ten minutes.

  3. Add 30ml of Talisker into mugs, and strain in the mixture.

  4. Garnish with Bay Leaves, Cinnamon Stick and Star Anise.

Interesting Facts

Some people believe that the Hot Toddy can help relieve congestion and coughing. Honey is a natural cough suppressant, and lemon juice can help clear phlegm.

History of the Drink

The Hot Toddy is said to have originated in Scotland and is traditionally made with whisky, honey, water and a lemon wedge. It’s often drunk as a way to stave off colds and flu.
