  • Preparation
    1. Add all the ingredients to an Ice-filled Mixing Glass.
    2. Stir to mix, chill and dilute.
    3. Strain into a chilled Coupe Glass.
    4. Garnish with a Lemon Twist.

History of the drink

The "Bobby Burns" cocktail, which is believed to have been named after either the Scottish poet or a cigar salesman, has a history that dates back to at least 1900 when it appeared under the name "Baby Burns" in a recipe guide. Cocktail historian, Gary 'gaz' Regan, found a picture in the 1923 edition of Valentine's Manual of Old New York, which suggested that the drink might have been named after a location in New York. However, the true origins of the Bobby Burns cocktail remain uncertain. The first printed recipe for the drink appeared in the 1930 edition of The Savoy Cocktail Book, while the first American written appearance came a year later in the Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Days, but with a different recipe and named "Robert Burns."
